Serious injury claim news 14/06/2011
Son seeks damages for brain damaged motherA 57-year-old woman, left brain damaged after a car accident which caused the death of her sister, is seeking damages. The serious personal injuries which the woman suffered mean she needs constant care and will never work or live independently again. It is the son of the victim who is seeking £500,000 in damages on behalf of his mother. The car accident took place in Haverhill, Suffolk when the woman and her sister were driving in a Citroen Saxo. A Porsche 944 travelling in the opposite direction attempted to overtake another car while travelling at high speed but lost control and collided with the Citroen. The sister, who had been driving at the time, was killed in the head on collision. Fortunately, her sister survived but suffered severe injuries which have left her brain damaged. Charged with causing death by dangerous driving, the Porsche driver was jailed in 2009. The woman's son is now seeking £500,000 in damages for the car accident on her behalf, as well as hoping for a court order which will allow them to claim for future compensation should her condition worsen. According to a High Court writ the insurers of the driver have admitted liability but the amount of compensation has not yet been agreed.
