A woman from Donvale in Australia has been awarded a six-figure pay-out in bus accident compensation from the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) after suffering serious personal injuries on a public bus in June 2009.
The woman had boarded the bus on Doncaster Road, when the driver pulled away from the stop before the passenger had time to sit down.
She had been standing facing the seat about to sit when the bus jolted forward and caused the woman to be pushed against the chair. The force of the impact caused her to sustain a serious fracture in her leg.
Due to the severity of her injuries sustained in the bus accident the woman was admitted to hospital where she was kept for seven weeks receiving medical care.
Once she was released from hospital she then had to endure several months of rehabilitation treatment and continues to undergo physiotherapy and rehabilitative exercises.
Speaking after the case the woman's personal injury lawyer said she hoped the bus accident compensation would serve as a warning to all public transport companies about the need to ensure the safety of their users.
