A 69-year-old man from Devon, whose vehicle was rear-ended by a young motorist who was driving recklessly, has been given the go-ahead to receive a whiplash payout.
The neck injury he sustained in the collision has resulted in the plastics engineer being forced to give up work altogether after retiring from full-time work to part-time work in 2005.
He has also suffered pain and discomfort, but is said to be reaping the benefits of an exhaustive post accident exercise and rehabilitation programme.
The size of his whiplash payout, which was agreed by the defendant's insurance company and the man's no win, no fee lawyer only days before the case was due to reach court, remains undisclosed as a condition of settlement.
However, it is known that the insurer conceded total liability for the car accident and eventually agreed to settle "within walking distance" of the whiplash payout sum demanded by the claimant and his legal team.
