Bus accident kills car driver and injuries student passengers
A number of college dance students are thought to have suffered whiplash as a result of a bus accident on the A4067 in the Swansea Valley. Tragically, a woman died in the crash after her BMW Mini collided with the bus. None of the students taken to hospital with passenger injuries is thought to be in a serious condition. A statement released by the hospital that is treating the students confirmed this. "Initial examinations by medical staff indicate that the casualties have minor injuries, such as cuts, bruises and whiplash. They have also been shaken-up by the incident," it said. The statement adds, "As a precaution, a number of casualties have been sent for X-ray examinations. "The public should be aware of the number of patients currently using A & E, and we would ask people not to attend unless they have a genuine emergency." The college's principal also said that the students were being treated for their injuries, including whiplash. "The students are being well-cared for by staff at Morriston accident and emergency unit and we have sent counselling staff to the hospital to help students at this difficult time." "As a precaution, a number of casualties have been sent for X-ray examinations. It is not known if any no win, no fee compensation claims will arise as a result of the incident.
