Car crash claim fraudster on the run
A 29-year-old Iranian asylum seeker has skipped bail and is on the run from police after being found guilty of more than 300 incidents of whiplash compensation fraud, for which he was sentenced to 40 months in prison. The car accident fraudster's whiplash compensation cases were worth a total of around £5 million and formed part of a highly organised operation that employed actors to make dishonest car crash claims. In fact, the criminal's operation was run so professionally that is succeeded in duping a string of doctors as well as an eminent orthopaedic surgeon. The judge hearing the case at Blackfriars Crown Court in London commented, "This was a cunning, sophisticated and meticulously planned insurance fraud. "It was particularly serious, pernicious and sustained. "It involved taking out numerous individual third party motor insurance policies in multiple false identities, with false bank account details in false names, opened at least on one occasion with a false passport. "It involved pretend third parties deliberately deceiving claims handlers, solicitors and their staff and hospitals and doctors." Amazingly, it is thought that around 1,000 people were involved in the whiplash compensation fraud.
