A policeman who suffered whiplash in a single-vehicle car accident earlier this year is now facing charges of dangerous driving.
His case opened last week, but has now been adjourned until September.
The car crash occurred in January, when the police officer lost control of a powerful BMW 5-series on the M4 in Wales, when it left the carriageway. In addition to the whiplashneck injury suffered by the driver, the car itself and the roadside furniture were damaged.
The case has been brought by the Independent Police Commission, after their investigation of the car accident. A spokesperson for the police said that the whiplash sufferer has since been suspended from driving and moved into what the IPCC called "a non-operational and non-public-facing role."
*A replacement vehicle can usually be supplied within 4-6 working hours, where there is an admission of liability from the other person’s insurance company. If this person is not known, their insurance details are not known, they are uninsured or there is a potential dispute over who caused the accident, a replacement vehicle cannot be provided.
