Wrexham car crash leaves lucky driver with whiplash injury
A Welsh driver has escaped with only whiplash injury, cuts and bruises after a lorry ran into the back of his car near Wrexham this week. The 37-year-old father of one described the image of the truck looming in his rear-view mirror in the moments before the road traffic accident occurred as "the worst image you could ever see". After being hit by the lorry, the car crashed into the vehicle in front, causing damage that the police described as "catastrophic", and trapping the man within the car for 45 minutes. His personal injury was, incredibly, not life-threatening, consisting of whiplash from the impact and cuts and bruises caused by the seatbelt and airbag. After being cut from the car, the man was taken to hospital where x-rays confirmed his miraculous lack of broken bones. The South African truck driver responsible for the accident, and for the Welsh man's whiplash injury, has pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous driving and will be sentenced in March.
