Family of crash victim help raise money for medics
The wife of a man seriously injured in a motorcycle accident is helping to raise money for the medics that saved his life in a 600km charity bike ride to Edinburgh.
The 38-year-old former motorcyclist from Huntingdon sustained a severe personal injury after being hit by a car that had lost control. He was thrown more than 60ft into a ditch as a result of the crash.
The man's leg snapped at the pelvis as a result of the accident and he was forced to undergo a hip replacement. It took him four years to recover and his leg is now two-and-a-half inches shorter. However, despite this he plans to take part in the final 70 mile stretch of the bike ride.
The victim's 29-year-old wife and a friend have already raised £2,500 and the couple's 5-year-old twin daughters have also been involved by going out with collection buckets.
The couple believe that it was due to the prompt action of medical staff following the motorcycle accident that his leg was saved.
