A war veteran from London whose leg was amputated after suffering serious personal injuries in a bus accident has launched a claim for road traffic accident compensation.
The 88-year-old man had been using a pedestrian crossing in December 2010 when a double decker bus ran over his right foot.
His foot was badly crushed in the accident and his injuries were so severe doctors made the decision to amputate his right leg from just below the knee.
Since the accident the pensioner, who previously lived a healthy and independent life, now has to rely on his daughter and son-in-law for day-to-day care and support.
The driver of the bus is due to appear at Hendon Magistrates' Court, charged with driving without due care and attention, an allegation which he denies.
*A replacement vehicle can usually be supplied within 4-6 working hours, where there is an admission of liability from the other person’s insurance company. If this person is not known, their insurance details are not known, they are uninsured or there is a potential dispute over who caused the accident, a replacement vehicle cannot be provided.
