Van accident results in baby being injuredThe London Ambulance Service was called to the scene of a van accident in which a baby suffered a road traffic injury. The incident occurred at the Elm Avenue junction, which leads to Hawthorne Avenue, in Eastcote in Greater London. Reports on the crash have not provided much information as to the events leading up to it. However it is known that a pedestrian's pram was in collision with a white van, most likely in the process of crossing the road, and that as a result the baby inside was injured. The young infant was treated "as a priority" and was treated by paramedics at the scene, prior to being taken to Northwick Park Hospital for further treatment and to monitor the baby's condition. A spokesperson for the ambulance service said of the accident and of the baby's road traffic injury, "Staff treated a baby at the scene and they were taken to hospital as a priority, but it may have just been a precaution because of the child's age". Luckily the infant's injuries are not thought to be severe and a full recovery is expected. The road was closed by police for nearly an hour after the van accident, and the scene investigated. Any witnesses to the crash have been asked to come forward with information. Should the van driver be found liable for the injuries sustained by the baby, then the parents may choose to make a personal injury compensation claim on behalf of their young child.
