A woman from New Mexico who suffered car accident injury in a collision two years ago has reported that nerve damage in her pelvis has now left her with an insatiable desire for sexual intercourse.
The 39-year-old's condition is known in medical circles as Restless Genital Syndrome or Persistent Sexual Arousal Syndrome and has been caused by nerve damage to her pelvis.
The car accident which caused the problem occurred in April 2007 when the pickup truck she was travelling in with her husband was in a head-on collision with a man under the influence of illegal substances.
The woman suffered severe car accident injury including spinal damage and was hospitalised for several weeks. It was only after six months that she began to experience the unusual side effect.
She said, "I started getting these intense sexual urges. They would come out of nowhere and completely engulf me.
"It's very embarrassing and it's impossible to concentrate."
"I was very relieved to find out my condition was not psychological," she said. "For a while I thought I was going crazy or that it was somehow my fault.
