A bus accident compensation claim has been launched after a teenager was left seriously injured in a scooter accident.
The accident took place in October 2007 on the A143 in Suffolk when a Mercedes mini coach pulled out of a junction and hit the scooter in a head-on collision. The teenager riding the scooter suffered serious head and spine injuries which have left him paralysed below the waist.
The High Court in London heard how the boy was overtaking a line of stationary vehicles when the accident took place. The Mercedes mini coach had come out from a side junction and was making a right hand turn through a gap in the traffic when a tractor and trailer obscured the view of the approaching scooter.
The teenager has launched a car accident compensation claim for the injuries he endured against the insurers of the mini coach driver; however there is some debate over liability for the incident.
If the teenager is successful, he could be awarded more than £2m in car accident compensation to cover care costs and loss of earnings.
