A teenage boy has lost his driving licence just months after passing his test when he caused a road traffic accident which left another motorist with whiplash injuries.
The 18-year-old from East Sussex had been driving his Fiat Punto at high speed while taking his friends to McDonalds in Bexhill when the car accident occurred. As he drove too fast round a bend he was forced to swerve to avoid a turning car and consequently collided with a Toyota which had been travelling on the opposite side of the road.
The driver of the oncoming Toyota sustained serious whiplash and seatbelt injuries in the accident. She described the incident as the worst bit of driving she had seen in 20 years and felt fortunate to be alive.
A passenger in the Fiat Punto claimed that his friend and driver of the vehicle had been showing off and he had felt unsafe in the car.
The teenager pleaded guilty to a charge of driving without due care and attention at Hastings Magistrates Court where his license was revoked. He was also fined £100 and ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge and £85 court costs as a result of the road traffic accident.
