A single vehicle involved in a bank holiday car accident this weekend managed to close the A14 by overturning near Risby in Suffolk.
An air ambulance was called to the road traffic accident, but police later stated that the personal injury suffered by the car's two female occupants was not thought to be life threatening. The women were, however, taken to hospital for checks and treatment for milder injuries, such as whiplash.
A police spokesman said "There were two female occupants inside the car and we believe they were both taken to hospital.
"There was only one vehicle involved but the road needed to be closed initially. We managed to re-open one lane, but needed to close it temporarily again to allow the car to be recovered."
The car accident occurred at 3.30 pm, causing afternoon delays on the Suffolk road near Bury St Edmunds. No other crashes or cases of personal injury were reported as a result of this incident.
*A replacement vehicle can usually be supplied within 4-6 working hours, where there is an admission of liability from the other person’s insurance company. If this person is not known, their insurance details are not known, they are uninsured or there is a potential dispute over who caused the accident, a replacement vehicle cannot be provided.
