Personal injury claim 14/07/2011
Car accident compensation settled after head on crashA single mother is to be awarded with a seven-figure sum in car accident compensation, after being left with life changing personal injuries. The 48-year-old mother of four had been driving her car along Miles Gray Road in Basildon when she was involved in a head-on collision with a 76-year-old motorist, who had lost consciousness behind the wheel. The woman was cut free by fire crews and taken by air ambulance to the Queen's Hospital, in Romford, to undergo emergency treatment. Unfortunately the pensioner, who had suffered with a heart condition, died at the scene of the accident. The collision caused the woman to suffer severe personal injuries which have left her confined to a wheelchair, partially paralysed on the left side of her body and suffering with speech and eyesight difficulties. The multi-million pound claim for car accident compensation against the pensioner's insurers was settled out of court after the company accepted liability for the incident. The amount payable was calculated by evaluating the expected cost of the woman's life long care needs. The woman's family has stated that the car accident compensation awarded would ensure that they have the financial security to provide the round-the-clock care their mother will now require for the rest of her life.
