A Rochdale bride arrived at the church on her wedding day this weekend, only to see the aftermath of a car crash that had involved the limousine carrying her husband-to-be and his mother hitting a wall at the base of a hill. The groom suffered personal injury to his limbs and back, and his mother suffered a heart attack.
However, once the mother was safely on her way to hospital, the couple decided to proceed with the wedding, despite the pain that the groom was in. They may cancel the honeymoon if the groom's mother's condition does not improve.
The wedding photographer said, "We heard this almighty skid, a crash, then another crash. It looked like the brakes had failed.
"The driver said he was pumping them, but nothing happened. The car was picking up speed as it was going down the road, so it was going fairly fast by the time it hit.
"I thought they would call the wedding off, but with all the time and money invested in it, they decided to go ahead."
There has been no comment regarding the couple's intentions to make a personal injury claim as a result of the car crash.
