Crash victim who lost his leg completes 1,000 mile bike ride
A 33-year-old man from Exeter who lost a leg after suffering serious personal injuries in a road traffic accident has gone on to successfully complete a charity bike ride.
The man lost his left leg and severely damaged his right leg in a road traffic accident 10 years ago and now has to wear a prosthetic limb.
The cyclist was determined to complete the 1,000 mile charity bike ride from Lands End to John O'Groats in order to raise £3,000 for a children's charity that his wife works for.
His mother commented, "He never complains about his injuries and has become more and more confident with the challenges of outdoor pursuits. We are very proud of him and his achievements to date.
"He is always thinking of others, he will always do things for charity and he will never let the one leg stop him."
Despite the severe injuries the man sustained in the road traffic accident he has remained positive and as well as cycling he also surfs, canoes and goes mountain climbing.
