Three-year-old in hospital after road traffic accidentA three-year-old girl is recovering in hospital in Peterborough after being in collision with a moped while crossing a road. The incident on a Fletton street occurred as children where making their way home from school and the roads and pavements were busy. Suspected to have emerged from in between parked cars, the young girl was hit by a blue moped, The front light of the two-wheeler was smashed in the collision. Witnesses report that paramedics wrapped bandages around the three-year-old's head before putting her in an ambulance with her parents to take her to the nearest hospital for treatment. A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said, "She was conscious and breathing and taken to Peterborough City Hospital, where her injuries are not critical." The moped rider was also taken to hospital, accompanied by his mother, in order to make sure he has sustained no injuries, and then he was interviewed by police about the moped crash. Police are asking for witnesses of the incident to come forward so that they may better map the scene of the road traffic accident and determine liability for the young girl's injuries. Should the moped driver be found at fault, the victim's parents may decide to take legal action in the form of a personal injury compensation claim.
