A police officer who is based at Loughton Police Station, in the Epping Forest district of Essex, has been fined after causing a car accident which left another driver with whiplash injuries.
The 23-year-old policeman was fined a total of £345 after appearing at Southend Magistrates Court in Essex where he admitted to driving without due care and attention.
The court heard that the officer had been attempting to overtake a Ford Mondeo which was turning off into a petrol station on Church Hill, Loughton, when he misjudged the manoeuvre and collided with the vehicle, causing it to spin off course.
The accident, which took place on 27 December 2010, caused the driver of the Ford Mondeo to suffer whiplash injuries.
The police officer appeared at the Magistrates Court on 12 August 2011 and was fined £250 and ordered to pay £80 in court costs as well as a victim surcharge of £15. He also received six points on his driving licence.
