Police pay $75k work accident compensation to officerA Las Vegas police officer has been awarded $75,000 (around £48,000) in motorcycle accident compensation after sustaining severe personal injuries while on duty in 2007. The officer had been travelling north on Durango Drive in Las Vegas when the accident took place. The road had been under construction at the time but due to a lack of warning signs the biker was unaware of the state of the street and was thrown from his bike. Due to the severity of the personal injuries he sustained in the accident, he was forced to pay $200,000 (about £127,000) in medical bills for treatment. The officer, who works under the traffic division, has been awarded $75,000 in motorcycle accident compensation from the Metropolitan Police Committee. The settlement is the statutory cap for the date of the accident. However, the officer could be entitled to more compensation from Clark County, as its officials initially approved the road project.
