Personal injury claim possible after cyclist thrown from bikeA holidaying cyclist may be eligible to make a personal injury claim for compensation after suffering a fractured skull due to a collision with a vehicle while in Dublin. It is reported that the driver involved in the car crash sent the victim a letter in which they admitted that the accident had been caused by them. The injuries sustained by the cyclist included multiple fractures to one leg, injuries to the victim's eye and shoulder, as well as damage to his one of his kidneys. Nine months on, the cyclist still needs to wear a metal frame on his leg, is only able to walk using crutches, and has a long period rehabilitation ahead of him. Since returning to the UK from Dublin, the casualty has had to undergo four operations on his right leg as well as having to visit 23 outpatient clinics and physiotherapy classes at the hospital. The victim is most upset that his quality of life has been reduced. He stated, "I used to love fell walking, DIY and travelling, but haven't been able to do any of these things since my accident." As the driver of the car has admitted to being at-fault in the incident, the victim should be eligible to make a personal injury claim for his pain, suffering and any loss of earnings.
