A serious car crash near Northampton involving a stolen car has led to one teenager's death and serious personal injury being suffered by a second.
The car accident, which occurred in the small hours of Monday morning this week, followed a brief chase in which police officers pursued a stolen car that was speeding, but the pursuit was abandoned before the crash. The road remained closed into the morning for police to investigate the road traffic accident scene.
Although the chase was called off, the Independent Police Complaints Commission will investigate the crash.
Two occupants of the car fled the scene; it is not known whether they suffered passenger injury in the crash. Details were not given regarding the nature of the personal injury suffered by the remaining survivor of the car crash.
