"Never Say Die" says permanently disabled biker
A motorbike accident victim from Wales has spoken out about how her injuries led to the best compensation she could ever wish for – her surgeon became her husband! The 45-year-old woman was only 15 at the time of the motorcycle crash when, as a pillion passenger, she broke her back after being thrown from her boyfriend's motorbike. Although on that fateful day when the orthopaedic surgeon told the teenager and her family the tragic news that she would be permanently unable to walk it was seen as the worse thing that could have happened, many years in the future, the woman married that man and has gone on to write an inspirational book about her experiences after the accident. It is clear that the woman does not consider herself as merely a motorbike accident victim and her book, "Never Say Die" details her charity work, her battles with other illnesses and her eventual finding of happiness with the man who treated her immediately after the accident It appears that there may not have ever been an accident compensation claim made by the woman as she admits, "I never blamed [my boyfriend]. He didn't force me on the bike." She adds though: "The memory still feels fresh for me. It very rarely goes away." |
