One couple will not be able to make a car accident claim after they crashed their car into railings following a police chase around Portsmouth on Friday 17th July.
The driver and his female passenger had jumped in the Golf to evade police after they were involved in a public order incident. The drama started at around 3.15am in Guildhall Walk, Portsmouth after the couple sped off pursued by police.
The chase finally came to an end in Victoria Road North after the car crashed into the central reservation near the roundabout that joins Winston Churchill Road and Holbrook Road.
The 33-year-old driver then lost control of the car as it careered through the railings and the couple were left balancing on a ledge over a pedestrian walkway.
Firefighters had to be called to the scene and rescuers spent over two hours recovering the car. The passengers escaped from the car crash with minor injuries.
The driver of the car was arrested by police and held in custody over night. As no other vehicles were involved, the driver will only be faced with police fines rather than any car accident claims on his insurance.
