An elderly woman from Middlesbrough has been awarded road accident compensation after being crushed by a van as she waited on the pavement
The Transit van reversed into the 81-year-old grandmother, causing serious internal injuries and fractures to her spine, pelvis, hip and ribs. She was in intensive care for six weeks and required extensive rehabilitation treatment for four months.
Although she has recovered to some extent, the woman has difficulties in walking and completing every-day tasks.
The woman launched a road accident compensation claim against the driver of the van who was found guilty of driving without due care and attention. The amount awarded against the insurers of the company van which he was driving has been undisclosed.
