A West Sussex motorcycle accident has resulted in the tragic death of a 43-year-old man.
Although police have not yet released details of the motorcycle accident victim's identity, it is understood he was travelling from London when he lost control on the icy A29 and collided with a roundabout.
Police took news of the motorcycle accident as an opportunity to remind road users of the treacherous nature of icy roads. "Although the days are clear and sunny, the temperatures at night time are dropping, often to below freezing. The county's roads are at risk of becoming very icy proving hazardous driving conditions for motorists," said Inspector Steve Grace from Sussex Road Policing Unit. "I would like to reminds drivers that we are still experiencing wintry weather - slow down and take extra care, particularly on bends," he added.
The dangers of driving in wintry weather have been made clear to personal injury solicitors across the country, with the UK's icy spell resulting in a 30% surge in the number of claims received by some firms.
*A replacement vehicle can usually be supplied within 4-6 working hours, where there is an admission of liability from the other person’s insurance company. If this person is not known, their insurance details are not known, they are uninsured or there is a potential dispute over who caused the accident, a replacement vehicle cannot be provided.
