The heavy snowfall and wintry conditions that have plagued Britain's roads this February have resulted in a spate of weather-related traffic accidents, with an unconfirmed number of drivers suffering whiplash.
For example, despite not even being on the receiving end of some of the UK's severest weather, South Lanarkshire in Scotland still registered three inches of snow, with a number of drivers suffering injury in skidding accidents. In addition, there have also been weather-related collisions, including a two-car crash on the M74, which resulted in a woman having to be treated for whiplash.
And road safety campaigners fear that the worst is still to come. Temperatures in Scotland dropped as low as -18.4C yesterday, with forecasters predicting that temperatures will continue to remain well below zero until the weekend.
Shortages of grit are also causing concern. Just this week a cargo ship had to make an emergency trip from Spain to Aberdeen in order to offload 6,000 tonnes of salt.
And it is not only weather-related car accidents that have being causing whiplash this week. There have been a number of reports of sledging accidents causing the neck injury; however, it is unlikely that any of these will give rise to no win, no fee claims, aside from in cases where it is possible to prove exceptional negligence.
*A replacement vehicle can usually be supplied within 4-6 working hours, where there is an admission of liability from the other person’s insurance company. If this person is not known, their insurance details are not known, they are uninsured or there is a potential dispute over who caused the accident, a replacement vehicle cannot be provided.
