Call for witnesses of Stowmarket car park head injuryAn 89-year old man, described by neighbours as a "perfect gentleman", suffered a fatal head injury in a Stowmarket car park in Suffolk. While walking through an ASDA supermarket car park, the elderly man was in collision with a car driven by a 57-year-old woman, who was not injured in the accident. The victim suffered a head injury and had a lower leg fracture, and when East of England Ambulance Service paramedics arrived at the incident the man was unconscious. He was taken to West Suffolk Hospital for treatment, but, unfortunately, died later on the same day. Forensic collision investigators closed off the scene of the accident for five hours while they made inquiries into what occurred. Whether the woman could be found liable for the car accident is not yet known. Police are still investigating the immediate events leading up to the accident, and asking any witnesses of the collision to contact them with information. After the 89-year-old victim's fatal accident, a Green councillor for the Mid Suffolk District area revealed that he had been concerned about the car park's pedestrian access prior to the incident. If the elderly man's wife or son wants to make a compensation claim, they will not be able to until whoever is to blame for the victim's head injury, and subsequent death, has been found liable.
