Car crash compensation likely after M4 fatal accident
The family of a woman who was killed in a motorway accident may make a car crashcompensation claim against a man who drove into the back of her car at 100mph.
Reading Crown Court was told the 31-year-old driver of a Ford Focus was more than three times over the drink-drive limit when he got behind the wheel to go along the M4 to his home in Swindon after celebrating a friend's birthday in Reading.
Near Membury service station his car was registered driving at 104mph and shortly after that he collided with the rear of the grandmother's Land Rover Discovery which she had been driving to work.
The impact of the road traffic accident forced the woman's car down the embankment and she was not discovered until emergency services arrived. The 63-year-old woman died from her head injury four months later in hospital.
The Ford driver, who did not suffer any personal injury, was jailed for six-and-a-half years after admitting causing death by dangerous driving in the car crash.
