Metal sheeting causes personal injury and road closure in Essex
A serious car accident involving metal debris brought a major Essex road to a standstill this weekend as police investigated the crash that caused serious personal injury to a Colchester driver.
Early on Saturday afternoon, a blue car drove over a piece of metal sheeting, which may have been lost by another vehicle. This was thrown into the air, through the windscreen of a following Zafira, and then struck its driver in the head. He remains in critical condition in a Romford hospital.
The road was then closed by police until approximately 5pm while forensics experts examined the site of the road traffic accident. Police spokespeople have asked the driver of the blue car, or anyone who witnessed events leading to the car accident, to call Stanway policing unit on 0300 3334444 with their information.
*A replacement vehicle can usually be supplied within 4-6 working hours, where there is an admission of liability from the other person’s insurance company. If this person is not known, their insurance details are not known, they are uninsured or there is a potential dispute over who caused the accident, a replacement vehicle cannot be provided.
