A couple have been jailed for causing a serious road traffic accident that left a cyclist with fatal personal injuries.
The accident occurred in June 2010 when the 38-year-old cyclist from Hutton had been riding his bicycle before being hit by a Ford Puma and killed.
The 23-year-old driver was charged with causing death by careless driving while also being uninsured and driving without a license. The passenger and owner of the vehicle was charged of aiding and abetting the driver.
The case appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court where both defendants were sentenced to jail as a result of the road traffic accident.
It is believed that this is the first time someone in the UK has been sentenced of aiding and abetting a driver who caused death while driving without insurance.
The widow of the cyclist who died in the road traffic accident spoke of how she will find it difficult to forgive the couple for causing his death.
