A female motorist was killed in a car accident near a UK airport when her vehicle was crushed beneath a coach carrying passengers bound for holidays and flights out of the country.
While driving near the north terminal at Gatwick airport, a 34-year-old woman suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene after she was in collision with the coach, stated press reports.
Long delays were reported on roads in the area including the nearby motorway, the M23, as police interviewed about 40 coach passengers about the crash.
Officers investigating the road accident said it was a difficult task to clear away the car and coach, and repairs were required to road safety barriers damaged in the smash.
Commenting on the coach and car accident, a police inspector said, "We must not lose sight of the fact that, sadly, a woman died and it is essential that her death is fully investigated to meet the needs of the coroner and any subsequent court case that may arise."
