A Northampton cyclist has shown that a car crashing into his vehicle is not enough to stop him raising money for a chosen charity.
The road traffic accident, which occurred this Saturday, occurred at the Barnes Meadow Interchange as a team of cyclists from the same firm rehearsed their 450 kilometre trek across Zambia by cycling around the Midlands town.
The cyclist, who is unlikely to pursue a compensation claim as his personal injury extends only to a bruised elbow, told his local paper that "There was more damage to the car than me. Apart from that, it was fine, we had a fantastic day." He went on to complete his eight-hour route, and continued riding on the Sunday.
The team intends to raise money for Transaid, a charity providing road networks and driver training for African countries. The man involved in the car crash, and his local paper, have both resisted making fun out of the fact that a car accident involved a man raising money for driver training.
