Woman seeks £2.2m in road traffic accident compensation
A woman from Lancashire who was awarded £12,500 in road traffic accident compensation after suffering severe head injuries has asked for the case to be re-opened.
The 50-year-old from Wigan was involved in a collision with a motorcycle as she crossed the A635 in Barnsley. The accident left her with serious personal injuries and as a result she was awarded £12,500 in damages.
However, her legal team are requesting that the case is re-opened as the claimant's severe head injuries meant that at the time of the initial payment in 2003 she lacked the capacity to make an informed decision when accepting the compensation offer.
The case is being taken to the Court of Appeal by the legal team who argue that due to the extent of the injuries sustained, their client should have been compensated with damages in the region of £2.2 million.
*A replacement vehicle can usually be supplied within 4-6 working hours, where there is an admission of liability from the other person’s insurance company. If this person is not known, their insurance details are not known, they are uninsured or there is a potential dispute over who caused the accident, a replacement vehicle cannot be provided.
