Car accident news 05/04/2011
A clean vehicle can reduce the risk of a car crashThere are many ways in which negligence on the part of the motorist increases the risk of a car crash, personal injury, and ensuing compensation claims, but one which may surprise some drivers, and is easy to avoid, is having a cluttered car. Yet, nearly a fifth of motorist in the UK have been involved in a road traffic accident which could have been prevented if the car had been in a tidier condition. Car insurance experts are warning road users in the UK that driving around in a messy car can be extremely dangerous. Research released this month led to the launch of a Spring car clean initiative in an effort to get motorists to clean up their untidy vehicles. Half of car owners admitted that they often only clean their vehicle once a year, while eight per cent claimed they never clean their car at all. A vehicle insurance expert working for a leading motor insurance internet site, said, "Untidy cars are literally littered with potential dangers on the road." To raise awareness of the risks, several actresses for the TV Series ‘The Only Way Is Essex' and an insurance site have joined forces in a photo shoot to expose the dangers of rubbish-filled cars. The car insurance site behind the photo shoot hopes that its campaign will make more people clean their vehicle interiors and stay safer on the roads, resulting in fewer damages claims. With rubbish such as cans and crisp packets becoming wedged under a brake pedal, or partially blocking a driver's view, the risk of a car crash greatly increases, as does the possibility that the motorist might collide with another road user. This could result in serious personal injuries and an accident claim being made against the motorist if found liable.
