Car crash kills sharks, hurts parrot, destroys house wall
An unusual car crash in Staffordshire has hit the headlines as it has resulted in the death of two sharks and personal injury to a parrot.
The road traffic accident occurred at night earlier this week, when a silver Astra span out of control and crashed through the front wall of a terraced house. The sleeping family's fishtank was destroyed, letting the pet sharks out to suffocate, and the parrot was left dazed.
The levels of personal injury suffered by the occupants is not known, as they were able to flee the scene. Police are seeking witnesses to help them trace the two people. Fortunately none of the family was hurt in the accident, although the front of the house is now considered unsafe for living.
The mother of the family said "There are always accidents along here; it's a magnet for boy racers. We need speed ramps and cameras before someone is killed.
"This is one accident too many and we will definitely be moving house to live by a safer road now."
Neighbours rallied round to help with the aftermath of the car crash, rebuilding the damage with breezeblocks and helping to collect rubble. No personal injury compensation claims are thought likely to follow.
