Car crash compensation news 12/11/2010
Woman wins case but loses much moreA woman from Yorkshire who suffered personal injuries when she was struck by a vehicle backstage at a Bon Jovi concert has been awarded a settlement of car crash compensation. The 39-year-old car crash compensation claimant was working on the security staff backstage at the concert when the vehicle collided with her, causing her leg to be broken. As well as claiming damages for the broken leg, the woman also claimed for internal injuries, ligament damage and the distress and loss of enjoyment she says she has suffered as a result of being unable to make love since the accident. However, despite initially hoping to secure £250,000 in car crash compensation, the claimant's no win, no fee lawyer managed to secure only a fraction of that amount. The claimant told her local newspaper, "I have gone through hell since the accident. I have not been able to work for years and my marriage broke down and now, all I have been left with is £33,000. At first we were going for £250,000 so this is a big letdown. I had no idea it would go on this long or be this hard. I thought it best that I draw a line under it and get on with my life because I can't cope with it any more. "In the end I only ended up with about £3,000 after I paid back what I had been paid in disability benefits and paying the solicitor. It's hard because I've lost more money than that with not working for four years."
