A father-of-one who suffered multiple personal injury when he was hit by a teenager driver while crossing the road has received an undisclosed sum of car crash compensation.
Although full details of the car crash compensation settlement remain undisclosed, the payout is believed to be for a six-figure sum around £500,000.
The former mental health nurse, who now needs full-time care from his wife, suffered a brain injury as a result of the accident, with his personal injury claim lawyer arguing that a drastic personality change has been the "most serious consequence" of the injury.
The 46-year-old also received a fractured skull, spine, elbow and leg in the accident, for which the 18-year-old driver responsible has received a conditional discharge after admitting to driving without due care and attention.
In approving the settlement, the High Court judge hearing the case commented that he felt for the injured man's wife and "for the position in which she finds herself".
Meanwhile, the car crashcompensation claimant's wife said, "We are okay and satisfied with what was agreed. The money is not the main issue with us."
*A replacement vehicle can usually be supplied within 4-6 working hours, where there is an admission of liability from the other person’s insurance company. If this person is not known, their insurance details are not known, they are uninsured or there is a potential dispute over who caused the accident, a replacement vehicle cannot be provided.
