East Lothian RTA passengers could seek compensation
The driver of a car which somersaulted off a Scottish A road and landed in a ditch may become the subject of multiple car crashcompensation claims as all of her passengers were hospitalised after the accident.
No other cars were involved in the road traffic accident, which happened close to the Dolphingstone turnoff on the A1 near Tranent, East Lothian, so it is likely that an investigation will be required to determine the cause of the crash.
Emergency rescue workers had to cut the female driver free from the car. She was reported to be suffering from multiple injuries.
A spokesperson for the Scottish ambulance service said, "We had five ambulances in attendance and a medical team from the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
"All five people were taken to hospital, three with multiple fractures who were all put on spinal boards, but none of the injuries are life threatening."
If it is determined that the driver was at fault in the accident, the injured passengers may be successful in making claims for car crash compensation through their personal injury solicitors.
