Payout for cycling injuriesThe car crash claim of a 34-year-old cyclist who suffered traumatic head and brain injuries as a result of being hit by a vehicle has been settled for a seven-figure sum at London's High Court. The car crash claim related to a 2001 incident near Oxford which left the cyclist in a coma with a fractured skull and severe brain injuries. Those present at the court heard how dramatically the claimant's life has changed since the road traffic accident. Whereas he was once an independent man studying at Oxford Brookes University, for nearly a decade now he has required 24-hour nursing care and is completely dependent on a team of carers. In total, the man's car crash claim was settled for £2,450,000 compensation, in addition to £120,000 yearly index-linked payments to be paid for the duration of his life. A spokesperson for no win, no fee specialist Car Accident Advice Line comments, "Tragic cases like this illustrate just how important it is that those injured in traffic accidents have recourse to civil justice, whether it is simply to pay for medical care or, as in severe cases such as this one, to pay for full-time care."
