A man from Pontefract has made a successful car crash claim after he was left paralysed from the neck down following a car crash in November 2005.
The 27-year-old was a back seat passenger in a work colleague's car when it crashed in Cambridgeshire, leaving him with damage to his spinal cord, a fractured spine and brain damage.
The paralysed man's personal injury lawyer said the total settlement was valued at nearly £10.5m but a 20% reduction had been accepted as he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The accident compensation will go towards the long-term care the crash victim now requires due to the personal injuries he sustained in the accident.
Speaking of the car crash claim settlement, the man said he was "very pleased" with the amount he had been awarded.
"It has taken a couple of years, but finally I have got it" he said.
