Prosecution blames car crash defendant's 'tomfoolery' for death
The jury at Bradford Crown Court heard allegations this week that a fatal car crash from 2007 had been caused by a teenager's reckless driving.
The prosecution claimed that the defendant swerved his bright yellow Vauxhall Tigra toward a blue Renault Clio, as part of showing off and encouraging its driver, who knew the Tigra driver, to race.
The Clio's passenger grabbed the steering wheel, fearing that the car was in danger of being forced over the edge of the flyover. This led to the Clio crossing the carriageway and colliding with the crash barrier. The driver's side was crushed, and the Renault driver died instantly from the personal injury received.
The Tigra driver stopped at the car accident scene and was there when the police arrived.
The prosecutor made the claim that it was the Tigra driver's "tomfoolery" in his customised vehicle that was responsible for the evasive actions that led to the car crash. The trial continues.
