Personal injury news
Drivers make false car accident claims to get damagesNew research has shown that the number of UK drivers who deliberately cause an accident or pretend to have been involved in one, so that they can claim money on the insurance, is steadily increasing. This criminal activity could not only see victims losing their no claim bonus and increase the price of their insurance, but cause them personal injury too. A price comparison website recently surveyed drivers on their insurance claims. Reportedly, four percent of drivers, which could equal about 1.3 million people, said that they were prepared to make a fraudulent claim and two percent of drivers said that they had already filed a false claim. Apparently drivers in London are the worst in Britain for making these bogus insurance claims. Welsh motorists, on the other hand, appear to be the most honest drivers, being the least likely to file a false claim. A car insurance expert working for the company which carried out the survey stated that crashing a car to claim insurance is not only illegal but it also puts the driver's life and the lives of others at risk. Anyone found guilty of deliberately causing a road traffic accident could not only face a prison sentence and a driving ban, but may also have a compensation claim made against their insurer for any personal injury the victim of the staged accident has suffered.
