A55 car accident caseA man involved in a devastating car accident has received £3.6 million car accident compensation after suffering a brain injury. The accident occurred as the man was parked next to the A55 in a lay-by in June 2008. While he was stationary another vehicle, which had been travelling at 70mph, crashed into the back of his car, throwing it violently forward. The force of the crash caused the victim's head to smash against the steering wheel resulting in serious injuries. He had to spend two weeks on a life support machine after he suffered a brain bleed and brain swelling. The victim has made a remarkable recovery since the accident, although he has been left with a permanent brain injury. His frontal lobe has been damaged, this causes cognitive and personality problems. He also suffers from post-traumatic amnesia. These injuries mean he will be unable to live an independent life. The case was heard at Liverpool Crown Court and the judge has awarded the victim £3.6 million in car accident compensation.
