A North London car accident has resulted in a 71-year-old former choir master receiving an award of neck injury compensation.
The Berlin-born man had been a passenger on the north circular in a vehicle being driven by his son when, as it attempted to merge lanes, it was involved in a collision with a Ford Transit van.
Both the driver and his father were then taken to hospital to receive treatment to their injuries. The son received treatment for whiplash and shock, while the 71-year-old stayed overnight as a precaution because of a more serious car accidentneck injury.
The son, a 42-year-old civil servant, was found to be responsible for the accident and his insurance company has admitted liability for the compensation claim of the father.
The no win, no fee solicitor who settled the car accident claim said that cases where members of the same family are "both claimant and defendant need not be contentious". He also said that such claims should be allowed to process along typical legal channels.
Press report that the father received a settlement worth £6,750 for his personal injury.
