Many critics called it a timely metaphor of their campaign, but those now seeking to make a car accident claim for a car crash that happened just outside a Labour conference last Friday would have called it a nuisance.
The car crash, involving a Volkswagen Golf and a refuse collecting vehicle, occurred in Hockley, Birmingham, just outside where Labour ministers were launching a new poster campaign.
After being clipped by the refuse lorry, the Golf driver lost control of his car and went straight into a bus shelter. He was said to be shaken from the ordeal but otherwise unhurt.
The political campaign was immediately disrupted as police and journalists rushed to the car accident scene.
The refuse collectors had been heckling the politicians at the time of the accident but have blamed the Golf driver for the crash.
It has not been reported if any of those involved in the crash are looking to make a car accident claim.
