Canadian school prevents car crashes by thinking further ahead
A driving school in Canada has made a warning that drivers in the current snowy weather are not thinking far enough ahead to avoid a car crash. The instructor interviewed by the Rocky Mountain News has claimed that most drivers think only ten feet ahead.
He adds that "You cannot have such a short game plan and live through it in the snow. It just takes so much more time for things to happen in the snow, it takes an unbelievable amount of patience and planning."
His driving school offers lessons in wheelspins, dealing with ice, low visibility, and advance judgement, among other car accident prevention measures. To replicate the most dangerous driving conditions, the school will pour gallons of water over the snow as it falls, guaranteeing ice will form, although the current heavy snows that have led to a number of road traffic accident claims already may guarantee ice themselves.
The school is already well attended, both by those keen to avoid all accidents and by those who have been in a car crash and want to learn how to avoid such accidents and attendant compensation claims in future.
Although the weather in this country is milder, there are several ways to attend appropriate advanced driving courses in the UK. These courses not only reduce your chances of being involved in a car crash, but may well reduce your insurance premium too. |
