The Bishop of Bristol's wife will soon be undergoing surgery on the serious neck injury she sustained in a vehicle accident in October.
The Right Reverend Michael Hill, 57, and his wife, Anthea, 61, were involved in a serious car crash on the M4 in October this year.
The Bishop sustained a broken shoulder in the accident and his wife was rushed to hospital suffering from a serious neck injury.
Following the accident, Mr Hill set up a weblog to keep people informed of his wife's progress and recently said that she will need to undergo "spinal fusion surgery" in the near future.
The Bishop said, "This surgery carries some risk and Anthea and the family were clear that they wished to share this news for your prayers."
The operation on Mrs Hill's neck injury will require a piece of bone to be taken from her hip, which will then be fused to her damaged vertebrae.
