Car accident claim news 24/03/2010
Car shunted by lorry along A1, driver unawareA vet miraculously missed having to make a car accident claim for a serious car crash after her car was shunted along the motorway by a tanker. The 31-year-old woman was on the A1(M) near Leeds on the way to her practice when her Renault Clio was clipped by a lorry, causing her car to get caught on the front of the lorry's bumper and pushed along at 60mph until the driver finally noticed her. The accident was filmed by a passenger in a car travelling on the same stretch of road near Leeds, and released on YouTube last week. The Yorkshire vet emerged from the car accident uninjured but said she was terrified the HGV would ram her into the crash barrier and kill her. She rang the emergency services as she was being shunted and told the operator, "I'm going to die, I'm going to die – can you do something?" In a frantic bid to try to release her car, the female driver tried pulling the handbrake and flashing her hazard warning lights as well as sounding her horn to try to catch the driver's attention but it took the lorry driver nearly a minute to notice her. Since the video has been put on YouTube, West Yorkshire police have reopened their investigation into the crash and the driver has been suspended from his employment. It has not been reported if the vet made a car accident claim for the damage to her vehicle in the incident.
