Car crash accident - driver may have been smoking cannabis
According to an inquest, a driver involved in a car crash that killed eight people may have been smoking cannabis.
The victims died after a car crashed into an oncoming vehicle on an A-road last year. He was killed along with his four passengers, as were three people in the oncoming car.
The inquest heard tests on the driver had found trace amounts of alcohol, but more significant levels of cannabis.
The inquest also heard from other drivers who told how the car had been seen travelling at high speed and 'tailgating' other cars. One witness told the hearing he had seen the car travelling very fast and close to the car in front.
Following forensic studies at the scene of the accident, it was estimated the car had been travelling nearly 100mph when it went out of control. Non fault accident - our advice and support
